i have to disagree with what you're saying in this video. while real estate photography and interior design photography can be different, there is quite a bit of overlap between the two. you're second shot would not work with the interior designers i know, simply for the fact that it doesn't show their design in the shot. your photo looks more like an ad for the furniture itself. the space you keep mentioning in the video must be shown in the photo. the space is what dictates the direction the designer will go, and not showing it renders certain photos unusable.

Thanks for sharing your opinion - it sounds like the second shot wouldn't be useful for the interior designers you know, but I find that hard to believe. Most interior designers I know want close, intimate shots of the objects, color selections, etc. and less interested in the space surrounding it. So while the space dictates their selections, it's really their selections they want to showcase. I've also never opened up an issue of BHG or House Beautiful and been shown the space, I've always been shown what's in the space. I stand by the statements in this podcast - sorry you disagree.
